Applying A Hip Spica In A Child

چکیده

Hip spica cast is a useful modality for the lower limb immobilization in children with hip and femur pathologies. Single, one half, double may be applied depending on indication. The position of also dependent underlying pathology which being applied. inguinal region knee are potential weak spots these should reinforce during application. Potential complications include plaster sores, breakage, avascular necrosis femoral head (in developmental dysplasia hip), neurovascular compromise, superior mesenteric artery syndrome (very rare). Careful attention to technique vigilant after-care necessary prevent complications.
